| Okay so I am in the truck listening to Local Licks on DC101 last night and I hear what has got to be the unmistakable voice of Andrew Hellier. So I lean down (not driving the truck) to the speaker to hear it a little better, and I swear that is it him. So finally after having to suffer through a few other local bands the DJ says that yes in fact that was a cut from Rotoglow who is back in the mix after a little break. SO I WIN! I knew that was a voice that was forever etched into my brain, kind of like a tattoo in my mind. Ya know some things you just never forget . . . So how the hell are ya Drew? I am sitting here reading all of these incredible messages to Jay, with Little Heath on my lap and thinking what can I say to you, what can I do for you? My heart hurts, J. was always so nice to us. Wheather on a Saturday after a long week or late at night after a long day he always had a smile on his face and a way of making us laugh. I remember all of the late nights at HEA he would buy everyone dinner and make it fun instead of work. I wish I could have known you and J. outside of the store. I feel blessed to have known him at all, he was such a sincere, kind, warm spirited man. My heart goes out to you and your beautiful children. I think of Avery often because Heath is saying and doing things that remind me of her. Parker is a spitting image of his father, what an incredible gift. Not only will J.'s spirit always be with you but his face will always be there for you to see. I am thinking of you and praying for you and your families.

| Sarah, I write this to you, as one of the strongest and most couragous women I know. There is no words to tell you how deep this has touched our lives. Knowing J. has been a true blessing. Watching him so deeply in love with you and the kids always brought a smile to our face. The sign he made in the store with the arrow in a never ending circle was precious. The memories of him hanging wall paper in wee hours of the night, climbing trees, trailing the kids around the yard in the tractor, dragging out the moonbounce for the kids, cooking amazing chili, many late nights at the store, New Years, The limo ride, there were so many good times! And, always making time with friends a lasting memory. His energy will live through all of us, through these memories of the good times with J. We will all miss him dearly but knowing that he is safe up there, watching us, helps bring us peace. And it has been a blessing to have him in our lives. Although, only for a short while, it felt like eternity and we cherish every moment of that time. We will still see J. through you, Parker and Avery where he left a part of himself to live on. Continue to be strong and if there is anything you need, we are here for you, always. |

| I once read that God broke our hearts because he only takes the best. This truly seems to be the case with J.
After reading what so many of you have written I understand that the J. I knew for a short time was the true J. He was the flame that burned so bright, the soul that was kind and loving to all, the friend that would make you smile and have fun. I feel like he touched my life in that short time and that he touched so many other lives.
I was just looking at pictures of Parker and Avery and could see J. I know that his spirit will live on in nature, in Sarah, in their children, and all who loved him. He will be missed in this world while he lives on through us. |

| Sarah and all of J.'s friends. I am J's uncle and I knew him as a little boy. I could tell what a wonderful child he was, a kind person, full of energy, smart and, most importantly, a child with a soft heart. Reading what you wrote Sarah and the others, let's me know that his heart did not harden as he became a man. As your comments attest, knowing a soft hearted man is truly a blessing. I had failed to keep in contact with J. after he moved to Lexington, but I called him just before he took his new job. He was caring for his children when I called and what I remember most was how gentle he was with the children as we talked on the phone. You could tell the love in his voice for them. From your comments he had a tremedous soft heart of love for all he knew. How blessed I was as an uncle to know him as a boy and how blessed you were to know him as a man. And J. is blessed today in the spirit world, in the comforting and loving hands of the "Great Mystery Spirit", Our Creator. |

| I would like to express my thoughts to all of the people who knew J.
As you know J. is a free spirit, one with great love and compassion for ALL people. If you are someone who TRULY knew J., then you know he was a unique gift that was given to this world. A world filled with great struggle .The gift of J. was so greatly received by so many others and myself. J. was made of the earth and of the wind. He was a soul that was forever searching for eternal freedom and now he has found it.
His time spent here… with me… with you… was full of good times, good laughs, energy, insight, entertainment, friendship and emotion. He truly thought the world of all of you. J. gave to the world so many things including two of the most amazing blessings... Parker and Avery. As much as J. will be missed, we can see him everyday in the eyes of our two children.
PLEASE KNOW THIS - J. is doing JUST FINE. He is free of the boundaries of this world... He is free of all of the struggles this world has to offer. He has moved on to a place where he can truly be himself. Do not focus on the loss of J. but rather treasure any time you had spent with him.
He is not GONE. You will know this when you feel the sun warm your face or just the right hint of a breeze. It is J Dot sending a reminder of his beautiful mind and soul.
J. and I have made such great friends. If J. were here with me right now and I know that he is, he would want me to tell you that he loves you and he really is okay.
If you understand what I have expressed here than I know that you not only knew J. but that you had respect for him. If you did not know J, he would have wanted to meet you.
Andrew, I know I don’t have to say a word but,
You truly were a brother to him. It meant the world to him.

| To My Brother J. Downey, I don't know where to begin, but I'm sure you understand. For the life of me I can't believe that I'm writing to you but I'm hoping that it will keep me from exploding. I am overwhelmed with memories that come to me so fast frequent that understanding this is near impossible. It seems like yesterday that we were having a couple drinks trying to get you to play that damn E minor chord. It was just today I realized that it was your way of trying to understand my world. Right before you left, we did have the best jam. You got it... timing and everything. I'll always remember that. I'll always remember that you had more love for the world than anyone I have ever met. You are a Good Man. The thought of you being gone, Is so over my head I find myself going in and out reality. I want to call you and talk about what ever but than I realize phones won't work for us anymore. I'm sure you're hanging around me right now telling me that you're ok, and I somethimes think that I can hear you say "YO!" I guess from now on things will in some way stay the same. You'll stop by unannounced, just this time the door won't make a sound. When a friend like you goes away, you leave behind a community of people realizing "You don't know what you've got, till it's gone." | Cheers Everybody!! I just wanted to drop a line and let everybody know what's going on. We've got a really cool show coming up this Saturday at DC-9 with long time friends EBO. For anybody who's been in the scene for a while know that this will be a great show. The doors open at 7:00 music at 8:00 and the night ends at 11:00 so plan to get out early. For those people near Richmond, we're gonna be back at Out of Bounds on Friday the 28th. If you get a chance give 102.1 THE X and Jay Smack a call and request ROTOGLOW. They have been spinning us on Studio B (Sun. nights 9-10pm) , but if we get some more requests who knows what could happen. Saturday May 29th we will be playing a killer new club in Fredericksburg called THE LOFT. We will be playing with our good friends LOWBOYS, who are going to be performing a special acoustic set that definately should not be missed. Fredericksburg shows are always interesting, so make sure you mark your calenders. After that it's June, and the Begining of Summer Shows...Yeeeeee Haaaaa! Cheers Everybody! |
